Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Courtney Greenwood d/b/a BloomYard ("BloomYard," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use BloomYard. We take your privacy seriously and will never sell your personal data.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

  • Email address and password when you create an account
  • Garden data you enter: plant selections, bed names, notes, and to-do items
  • Location information (city, zip code, or GPS coordinates) to determine your USDA hardiness zone
  • Garden preferences: style, goals, sun exposure, and plant preferences
  • Payment information when you subscribe (processed by Stripe — we never see your full card number)

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data via Vercel Analytics (pages visited, general usage patterns — anonymized)
  • Browser type and device information
  • IP address

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and personalize the BloomYard service
  • To generate plant recommendations tailored to your zone and preferences
  • To send account-related emails (confirmations, password resets, subscription receipts)
  • To improve the service based on how it is used
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To respond to your questions and support requests

We do not use your garden data to train AI models. Your preferences are sent to Anthropic's API solely to generate your plant recommendations in real time and are not retained by us beyond your session.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the third-party services necessary to operate BloomYard:

  • Supabase — stores your account and garden data (database hosting)
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments
  • Anthropic — generates plant recommendations from your preferences
  • Vercel — hosts the application and collects anonymized analytics
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — resolves location searches to coordinates

We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of BloomYard or its users.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and garden data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance reasons (such as payment records).

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Export your garden data
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@bloomyard.app. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

BloomYard uses essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We use Vercel Analytics for anonymized usage data — this does not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

BloomYard is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database hosting via Supabase, and we never store payment card details. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of BloomYard after changes constitutes acceptance.
